REFERENCE POLICY
JAKAP – Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan dan Cakrawala Pembelajaran places strong emphasis on the accuracy, quality, and relevance of references used in all published articles. This Reference Policy is established to ensure academic integrity and to promote the use of credible and up-to-date scholarly sources.
1. General Reference Requirements
Primary Sources Requirement
At least 80% of references must come from primary sources, including:
- Peer-reviewed journal articles
- Academic books
- Conference proceedings
- Official research reports and scholarly publications
Currency of References
At least 70% of references should be published within the last ten years to ensure that the manuscript reflects current developments in the field.
Preferred Sources
Authors are strongly encouraged to cite sources indexed in reputable academic databases, including:
- Scopus
- Web of Science
- SINTA
- DOAJ
- ERIC
- Google Scholar
- Other recognized scholarly databases
Minimum Number of References
Each manuscript must include a minimum of 15 relevant scholarly references directly related to the topic of the study.
2. Citation Style and Reference List
JAKAP adopts the latest edition of the American Psychological Association (APA) Style for both in-text citations and reference lists.
Authors must ensure that:
- All citations appearing in the text are included in the reference list.
- All references listed in the bibliography are cited within the manuscript.
- References follow the formatting requirements specified in the journal template.

3. Use of Reference Management Software
Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as:
- Mendeley
- Zotero
- EndNote
- RefWorks
The use of reference management tools helps ensure consistency and accuracy in citations and reference formatting.
Manuscripts containing significant citation or formatting errors may be returned to authors for correction before entering the peer-review process.
4. Unacceptable Reference Practices
The following practices are not permitted:
Reference Plagiarism
Citing sources that have not been consulted directly or copying references from other publications without verifying the original source.
Non-Scholarly Sources
Using unreliable or non-academic sources as primary references, including:
- Wikipedia
- Personal blogs
- Unverified websites
- Non-credible online content
Such sources may only be used when directly relevant to the research topic and with clear justification.
Excessive Self-Citation
Authors should avoid excessive citation of their own publications.
- Self-citations should not exceed 20% of the total references, unless a strong scholarly justification is provided.
Duplicate References
Listing the same source multiple times in different formats or editions solely to increase the number of references is prohibited.
5. Reference Screening and Verification
The editorial team will evaluate all references for:
- Relevance to the manuscript topic
- Academic quality and credibility
- Compliance with the journal's reference policy
- Accuracy of citation and formatting
If references are found to be inadequate or inconsistent with the journal's standards, authors will be required to revise the manuscript before it can proceed to publication.
Encouragement to Cite Relevant JAKAP Publications
JAKAP encourages authors to cite articles previously published in the journal when such citations are directly relevant to the topic, methodology, or theoretical framework of the submitted manuscript. However, citations should be based solely on scholarly relevance and should never be made for the purpose of artificially increasing citation metrics.
By adhering to this Reference Policy, authors contribute to the quality, credibility, and scholarly impact of research published in JAKAP – Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan dan Cakrawala Pembelajaran.
