PUBLICATION ETHICS
JAKAP – Jurnal Kajian Pendidikan dan Cakrawala Pembelajaran is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct in scholarly publishing. This publication ethics statement is based on the principles and guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
1. Duties of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to JAKAP must adhere to the following ethical standards:
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original works and free from plagiarism. Manuscripts submitted to JAKAP must not have been previously published, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
Citation and Referencing
Authors are responsible for properly acknowledging and citing all sources used in their research and writing in accordance with the journal’s referencing guidelines.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could be perceived as influencing the results or interpretation of their research.
Errors in Published Works
If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article when necessary.
2. Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for ensuring that all published articles meet high academic and ethical standards through a fair and transparent editorial process.
Publication Decisions
Editors have full authority to accept, reject, or request revisions to manuscripts based solely on their scholarly merit, originality, relevance, and contribution to the field, without discrimination or personal bias.
Fair Peer-Review Process
All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer-review process to ensure objective and impartial evaluation.
Confidentiality
Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and must not disclose any information about a manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and authorized editorial staff.
Prevention of Plagiarism
Editors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software prior to publication.
3. Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and credibility of scholarly publications.
Objectivity and Fairness
Reviews should be conducted objectively and constructively. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate, and evaluations should be supported by clear arguments and evidence.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared, discussed, or used for personal advantage without authorization from the editor.
Constructive Feedback
Reviewers should provide clear, detailed, and constructive comments that help authors improve the quality and clarity of their manuscripts.
Reporting Ethical Concerns
Reviewers should immediately inform the editor if they identify potential plagiarism, duplicate publication, data manipulation, or other ethical concerns.
4. Duties of the Publisher
As the publisher, JAKAP is responsible for:
- Ensuring that all published articles undergo a rigorous, transparent, and high-quality peer-review process.
- Maintaining academic standards and publication integrity.
- Addressing ethical misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and duplicate publication, through appropriate actions such as corrections, expressions of concern, or article retractions.
- Supporting editors in maintaining ethical standards and editorial independence.
5. Actions Against Publication Misconduct
In cases where publication ethics violations are identified, JAKAP may take appropriate measures, including:
- Rejection of manuscripts prior to publication.
- Publication of corrections or retractions when ethical violations are confirmed after publication.
- Notification of relevant academic institutions, funding bodies, or authorities when necessary.
- Temporary or permanent restriction of future submissions from authors who are found to have committed serious ethical misconduct.
