REFERENCE POLICY

JHUSE (Journal of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Education) requires authors to adhere to high standards of referencing to ensure academic integrity and credibility. The following guidelines must be followed when citing sources in manuscripts submitted to the journal:

  1. Reference Style

    • JHUSE follows the APA (American Psychological Association) Style – latest edition for citations and references.
    • All in-text citations must match the entries in the reference list.
  2. Source Requirements

    • A minimum of 15 references must be included in each manuscript.
    • At least 80% of references must come from scholarly journal articles published in the last five years to ensure up-to-date research.
    • Books, conference papers, and authoritative reports can be used but should not dominate the reference list.
  3. Citing and Formatting Guidelines

    • In-text citations should follow the author-date format (e.g., Smith, 2022).
    • Direct quotations must include page numbers (e.g., Smith, 2022, p. 45).
    • References must be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript, formatted correctly according to APA style.
  4. Reference Management Tools

    • Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote to ensure consistency in citation formatting.
  5. Plagiarism and Self-Citation

    • Excessive self-citation (more than 20% of references) is discouraged.
    • Plagiarism in references, including copying bibliographies without reading the sources, is strictly prohibited.

Manuscripts that do not comply with these reference guidelines may be subject to revision or rejection.
