Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between leg muscle power and movement speed among students participating in futsal activities at SDN 4 Ranomeeto. The study employed a quantitative approach with a correlational research design. The participants consisted of 30 students involved in futsal activities. Leg muscle power was measured using the standing broad jump test, while movement speed was measured through a 20-meter sprint test. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normality and linearity tests, and Pearson Product Moment correlation at a 5% significance level. The results showed that leg muscle power had a mean score of 142.37 cm with a standard deviation of 13.21 cm, while movement speed had a mean sprint time of 4.21 seconds with a standard deviation of 0.31 seconds. The normality test indicated that both variables were normally distributed, while the linearity test confirmed a linear relationship between the variables. Pearson correlation analysis produced a correlation coefficient of r = -0.681 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination was 46.4%. These findings indicate a significant and strong relationship between leg muscle power and students' movement speed. The negative correlation indicates that better leg muscle power tends to be associated with shorter 20-meter sprint times. Therefore, developing leg muscle power is important as part of physical conditioning to support students' acceleration and movement performance in futsal activities.
